Surface Tension_Curitiba Vehicles As part of the exhibition, a series of "vehicles" are being provided for local residents, artists, and neighbors, to put to use during the time of the exhibition. Th vehicles aim to supply opportunities for interaction with the public, and to provide an entry into the over-arching thematics and actions comprising the exhibition. These vehicles consist of a built cart, measuring 2 meters x 1 meter, and which refers to the local street collectors who circulate through the city collecting recyclable goods to be turned in for cash. These collectors form a pronounced feature in the city, and unofficially allow the city's recycling program - presented as a leading aspect of Curitiba's progressive urban policies - to function. During preparations for the exhibition this vehicle was put into use for the purpose of collecting found wood around the city (see e+l) to eventually be used in the building of a second vehicle: a dining table where visitors eat a home-cooked meal during the opening, and following happenings. Both of these vehicles function as tools for investigating, collecting, mapping, and mobilizing investigations and interventions on the part of the public. |
